In memory of His Excellency Dimitri Salachas (1939-2023)

The academic community of the Pontifical Oriental Institute participates with deep sorrow in the announcement of the death yesterday, October 16, of His Excellency Msgr. Dimitri Salachas, former Apostolic Exarch for the Eastern Catholic Faithful in Greece.

For many years he has been an esteemed professor of the Faculty of Eastern Canon Law at our Institute and was one of the “fathers” of CCEO, contributing to the education of generations of Latin and Eastern canonists.

We unite with the prayers of those who will remember him, especially on the occasion of the funeral to be held in Athens on October 20.
