St. John Climacus

Today is the feast day of St. John Climacus, a 6th-7th century monk who lived in hermitage for some two decades. During his isolation, he became one of the most learned Church Fathers. His Ladder of Divine Ascent is perhaps the most widely read book of Byzantine spirituality.
