Chains of St. Peter

Rome’s San Pietro in Vincoli was built during the 5th century to house St. Peter’s chains from when he was imprisoned in Jerusalem on the orders of King Herod. The night before his trial, an angel of the Lord removed these chains and led him out from the prison (Acts 12:1-11).
